ubble-realms that arose and subsided withinthe background of the emptiness.I decided my path was to dissolve all thebubbles, and then I would just be who I was.For what seemed like eons that’s all I did.Notice a bubble, say the magic words, “whotold you that, ‘the mind’’, notice the differencebetween me and it, focus on the emptiness, seeeverything as transparent etc.As I continued to exhaust myself - processingthis, dissolving that, I still felt like I was.As I focused on the emptiness throughawareness a bubble appeared. The only thingthat I could figure was it somehow related tothe work of a famous physicist named DavidBohm. Bohm, who wrote Wholeness and theInplicate Order in about 1950 had said thatthe universe is an unfolding and enfolding ofenergy, space, mass, and time.This meant, that if there was any experience(bubble) like lets say anger; that it must haveenergy, occupy a space, have some level ofsolidness, and have a beginning, a middle andan end.117
So therefore, since I was the witness of energy,space, mass and time then I must be beyondenergy, space, mass and time.Nisargadatta Maharaj: “Anything youcan know or know about you cannot be,therefore discard it”!A wave of intellectual clarity washed over melike being in the ocean on a summer day andhaving a wave of beautiful clear water washover yourself. I was beyond energy, space,mass and time.The level of pure knowing, which meantknowing with no object deepened as thisknowingness permeated through the emptiness.Simply stated:I prior to the “I” label was the emptiness.Falling into a deep restful sleepless sleep onceagain the state resembled kind of an in-betweenstate, in-between wakefulness and sleeping,or like the space between two thoughts or thespace between two breaths I used to experiencein mediation.I recalled all the words the Tibetan Buddhistswould use to describe the in-between statebetween death and life. I can’t recall all thosein-betweens now but I did remember the in-118
