AsadiSummary:The availability of affordable electricity is essential to the economic strength of anation.Electricity has been generated from different technologies and one of the mostimportant technologies is thermal power plant. In 1998, based on information providedby the international energy agency (IEA) approximately 60% of current globalelectricity generation relies on fossil fuels.In Iran development of power generation plants coincides exploration of oil resources,so most of the thermal power plants use petroleum base fuels. Also the sponsors ofpower plant construction projects have less tendency to use the fossil fuels such as coalwhere as statistics information show that solid fuels (mainly coal) alone contribute toabout 38% of the total electricity generation in the world and this percentage is expectedto remain essentially unchanged up to year 2020.Simplicity of oil and gas export with respect to coal and existing huge resources of coalin Iran, cause social and strategic pressure to provide technologies which will enhancethe acceptance of coal for thermal application such as power plants. For this reason aproject in related to pre feasibility studies of coal consumption in the power plant hasbeen developed by Niroo Research Institute.105
