Power Generation Research CenterNRIIn BISOTOON power plant, consumption of BFWP, CWP and FDF comprises 90% oftotal cusumption of the unit. Therefore, any attempts to reduce the energy consumptionof induction motors conspicuously give rise to outstanding reduction of electricalenergy consumption of the unit. This idea led the researchers to propose two definitesuggestions including optimal tap setting of transformers in electrical auxiliary systemof power plant and feasibility study of utilizing reactive power compensators. This studies includes technical and economical befits of simple and advanced reactivepower compenstor such as TCR and TCS.Project Results : Deriving a precise model of electrical auxiliary system of BISOTOON powerplant Minimizing RI 2 loss in electrical auxiliary system of the plant Reducing the energy consumption of induction motors through optimal tap settingof transformers and consequently reduction of total energy consumption of the unit Feasibility study of reactive power compensation.Project Documentation:- Power Plant Electric Systems Department; Final Report of “Reduction of ElectricalEnergy Consumption in BISOTOON Steam Power Plant”; Power Generation ResearchCenter; NRI; Code: PECBR/T01.22
