Gandomnezhad, H.R.KhalesiSummary:A Couette-type viscometer was designed and manufactured to measure viscosity ofNewtonian fluids such as heavy oils. The primary goal was to design a viscometer tocontrol the viscosity of heavy oils in power plants. With a single pair of cylinders, and astrain gauge torque meter (0.12 Nm); viscosities between 5 to 2000 mPa.s can bemeasured. The electronic signals are handled and controlled by a controller that cansave the last 300 data and transfer them to computer.Calibration performed usingSAE10, SAE40, ISO32, and ISO46 Oils. The viscometer is installed in ShahidMontazeri power plant.31
