AsgariSummary:Acheaving, Prototype of a 63kV semi-industrial Optical Voltage Transformerperformed for R & D Center of TAVANIR company. The Transformer is testedaccording to IEC standard and ready to outdoor switchgear installation. An opticalVoltage Transformer, utilize to measure high Voltage field in the network instead ofconventional PT with more benfits as, Low weight, high accuracy and widebandresponses to harmonics and very low costs. Ovt is a good replacement for conventionalpotential transformer. It is principally works based on the elector-optic effect. A laserbeam is conducted to the pockles cell wich is in the vicinity of the electrical fieldelectrodes. The cell cause affected the input beam so the output is proportional to thefield waveform. Then, Optronics components and circuits convert the baem informationinto electrical signals the signals can be displayed by both digitally A/D and analogpower amplifiers (100V) such as Conventional PT’s. The benefits is more accuracy andsensitivity to voltage measruments. Low costs, weight and dimension in a high technicalinsulation is available, too.72
