2 Local siblings: children are defined as localsiblings if:❚❚❚❚❚❚they are full or half brother or sister; orthey are adoptive brother or sister; orthey are children of the same household; andthey live within the <strong>school</strong>’s defined area ofresponsibility; andthey have indicated that <strong>school</strong> as apreference; andthe older sibling is already in attendance atthe preferred <strong>school</strong> and will be in attendancein September 20<strong>15</strong> (statu<strong>to</strong>ry <strong>school</strong> ageonly).Please note: <strong>to</strong> be defined as a ‘localsibling’ a child must live in the Area of PrimeResponsibility for the <strong>school</strong>.the <strong>school</strong>. Distances from home <strong>to</strong> <strong>school</strong>are measured in a straight line between theaddress point of the child’s home and acentral point within the main <strong>school</strong> buildingusing <strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire Council’scomputerised mapping system.4 Tie breaker: Lots will be drawn by a seniorofficer of <strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire Council whois independent of the <strong>school</strong> admissionsprocess.!Please note: In determining whichapplicants live closest <strong>to</strong> <strong>school</strong>,distances from home <strong>to</strong> <strong>school</strong> will bemeasured in a straight line between theaddress point of the child’s home anda central point within the main <strong>school</strong>building. Applications for assistancewith transport will continue <strong>to</strong> beassessed using the nearest availablewalking route.How are places allocated?3a Geographical considerations (for thoseliving within a <strong>school</strong>’s Area of PrimeResponsibility): Priority will be given <strong>to</strong> thosechildren who live within the Area of PrimeResponsibility for the <strong>school</strong>. Where a <strong>school</strong>also has an Area of First Responsibility,children living in this area will be given thehighest priority.If in any year there are more children livingwithin the Area of Prime Responsibility thanthe number of places available at the <strong>school</strong>,priority will be given <strong>to</strong> those children wholive closest <strong>to</strong> the <strong>school</strong>. Distances fromhome <strong>to</strong> <strong>school</strong> are measured in a straightline between the address point of the child’shome and a central point within the main<strong>school</strong> building using <strong>South</strong> GloucestershireCouncil’s computerised mapping system.3b Geographical considerations (for thoseliving outside a <strong>school</strong>’s Area of PrimeResponsibility): After places have beenallocated from within the Area of PrimeResponsibility, any remaining places will beallocated <strong>to</strong> those children who live closest <strong>to</strong><strong>Admission</strong> <strong>to</strong> all year groups duringthe <strong>school</strong> year 20<strong>15</strong>/2016All other applications for places for <strong>South</strong>Gloucestershire <strong>secondary</strong> <strong>school</strong>s during theyear 20<strong>15</strong>/2016, including those <strong>to</strong> other yeargroups, will be considered using the relevan<strong>to</strong>ver-subscription criteria for the <strong>school</strong> concernedand in accordance with the in-year admissionarrangements set out in the “In-year admissions”section.Children of multiple birthsWhenever possible, <strong>South</strong> GloucestershireCouncil will endeavour <strong>to</strong> place children ofmultiple births in the same <strong>school</strong> within theplaces available.
