In-year admissionsApplications during the <strong>school</strong> year20<strong>15</strong>/2016 (in-year admissions)If you move in<strong>to</strong> the local area during the <strong>school</strong>year 20<strong>15</strong>/2016 or you are already resident in<strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire and wish <strong>to</strong> move yourchild <strong>to</strong> another <strong>school</strong>, you will need <strong>to</strong> completethe <strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire in-year applicationform. The form can be used for application <strong>to</strong>any <strong>school</strong> within the <strong>South</strong> GloucestershireCouncil area and is available at www.southglos.gov/admissions. Alternatively, you may contactindividual <strong>school</strong>s or <strong>South</strong> GloucestershireCouncil on 01454 868008.For in-year admissions, completed applicationforms should be returned direct <strong>to</strong> the individual<strong>school</strong>/academy/foundation trust <strong>school</strong>concerned. The application form should bereturned <strong>to</strong> the <strong>school</strong>/academy/foundation trust<strong>school</strong> named as the first preference. On receip<strong>to</strong>f an in-year application, <strong>school</strong>s/academies/foundation trust <strong>school</strong>s will notify the localauthority of both the application and its outcome.Academies and foundation trust <strong>school</strong>s are theirown admissions authorities. Own admissionauthority <strong>school</strong>s may also require parents/carers<strong>to</strong> complete a supplementary information form <strong>to</strong>enable the <strong>school</strong> <strong>to</strong> collect additional informationin order <strong>to</strong> apply their over-subscription criteria.Please Note:Where a <strong>school</strong> is unable <strong>to</strong> offer a place andanother <strong>school</strong> is named as a lower preference onthe application form, the form will be forwarded<strong>to</strong> the lower preference <strong>school</strong> within five <strong>school</strong>days.In-year applications for <strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire<strong>secondary</strong> <strong>school</strong>s can be made for any yeargroup. You may express a preference for aparticular <strong>school</strong> or <strong>school</strong>s. Your application willbe considered against the admission criteria. Theadmission criteria for community and voluntarycontrolled <strong>school</strong>s are set out in the “How areplaces allocated” section. Please refer <strong>to</strong> the“<strong>Admission</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire academies,foundation trust <strong>school</strong>s, and university technicalcolleges” section for details of individualadmission policies.Offers of a <strong>school</strong> place (in-yearadmissions)Where a parent/carer has been offered a place fortheir child in a community or voluntary controlled<strong>school</strong>, they will be expected <strong>to</strong> take up theoffered place within four <strong>school</strong> weeks otherwisethe offer of a place may be withdrawn.Fair access for children admittedoutside the normal admissionsround<strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire Council has a Fair AccessPro<strong>to</strong>col which provides for children admitted <strong>to</strong><strong>school</strong> outside the normal admissions round. Thepro<strong>to</strong>col exists <strong>to</strong> ensure that access <strong>to</strong> educationis secured quickly for children who do not havea <strong>school</strong> place and that all <strong>school</strong>s take their fairshare of vulnerable children or those who arehard <strong>to</strong> place. The pro<strong>to</strong>col will be used <strong>to</strong> placechildren during the <strong>school</strong> year and not at thebeginning of the <strong>school</strong> year as part of the mainadmission round. The majority of children willbe admitted <strong>to</strong> <strong>school</strong> under normal admissionprocedures.The pro<strong>to</strong>col applies <strong>to</strong> the following groups ofchildren:❚ children from the criminal justice system orPupil Referral Units who need <strong>to</strong> be reintegratedin<strong>to</strong> mainstream education;❚ children who have been out of education fortwo months or more;❚ children of Gypsies, Roma, Travellers, refugeesand asylum seekers;❚ children who are homeless;❚ children with unsupportive family backgroundsfor whom a place has not been sought;In-year admissions✆ 01454 868008 cis@southglos.gov.uk23
