Where the home authority isnot <strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire Council, the homeauthority will pass on the details <strong>to</strong> <strong>South</strong>Gloucestershire Council <strong>to</strong> administer;d) <strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire Council sends lists ofapplications <strong>to</strong> The Ridings’ Federation;e) February – <strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire Councilapplies agreed scheme <strong>to</strong> all applications.Where an individual academy is oversubscribed,<strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire Councilwill use the agreed over-subscription criteria <strong>to</strong>determine which students will be offered placesat the individual academy;f) 2 March 20<strong>15</strong> offers made <strong>to</strong> parents/carers.Consideration of applicationsThe Ridings’ Federation of Academies Trustwill consider all applications for places at itsAcademies. Where fewer applications thanthe published admission number(s) for therelevant year groups are received, The Ridings;Federation of Academies Trust will offer placesat the respective academy <strong>to</strong> all those who haveapplied.Procedures where an academy isover-subscribed<strong>Admission</strong> year 7Where the number of applications for admission<strong>to</strong> each academy is greater than the publishedadmission number, applications will beconsidered against the criteria set out below.After the admission of students with Statementsof Special Educational Needs where one ofthe Academies in The Ridings’ Federation ofAcademies is named on the statement, or anEducation, Health and Care Plan and after theadmission of any Year 6 student with the right<strong>to</strong> transfer <strong>to</strong> a <strong>secondary</strong> phase without furtherapplication (Yate International Academy only), thecriteria will be applied in the order in which theyare set out below:1. Children in Public Care or Previously inPublic Care* Children in Public Care arethose looked after by a local authority withinthe meaning of Section 22 of the Children Act1989.Children Previously in Public Care are thosewho were looked after, but ceased <strong>to</strong> be sobecause they were adopted 1 , or becomesubject <strong>to</strong> a residence order 2 , or a specialguardianship order 3 .* Documentation will need <strong>to</strong> be provided <strong>to</strong> The Ridings’Federation of Academies as proof of care status.1Under the terms of the Adoption and Children Act 2002. Advicefrom the DfE sets out that the Adoption Act did not come in<strong>to</strong>force until 31 December 2005 and therefore only childrenadopted after this date qualify as Previously Looked AfterChildren.2Under the terms of the Children Act 1989.3Section 14A of the Children Act 1989.2. Local siblings (those living within anacademy’s Area of Prime Responsibilityand who have named the academy as apreference). Children are defined as localsiblings if:❚ they are half or full brother or sister; or❚ they are adoptive brother or sister; or❚ they are children of the same household; and❚ they live within the academy’s defined Area ofResponsibility; and❚ they have indicated that academy as apreference; and❚ their older sibling is already in attendanceat the preferred academy and will be inattendance in September 20<strong>15</strong> (statu<strong>to</strong>ry<strong>school</strong> age only).3.
