Admission toBristol Technology andEngineering Academy, UniversityTechnical CollegeThe BTE Academy is a University TechnicalCollege which specialises in Engineering andEnvironmental Technology for 14-19 year oldsin South Gloucestershire and Bristol. Learningis project-based – local employers set realindustry challenges and core academic subjectsare taught alongside projects making learningrelevant and enjoyable.The admission arrangements for the BTEAcademy for the year 2015 and for subsequentyears are:Year 12 published admissionnumbersFrom September 2015, the BTE Academy willoperate a sixth form for a total of 220 students.110 places overall will be available in Year 12 (theYear 12 ‘capacity’) for its own pupils progressingfrom Year 11. The BTE Academy will admit aboveits published admission number if more than 110internal pupils wished to progress to the sixthform. It will not admit external applicants to itssixth form unless under-subscribed by its ownpupils. In such circumstances it will apply thesame academic entry requirements as it does topupils already on roll in the academy.Application process for year 122015Applications for a place in Year 12 for September2015 can be made directly to BTE Academy. Theapplication form can be found on-line at www.bteacademy.co.uk/admissions/ or by requestinga copy from: Admissions Team, BTE Academy,New Road, Stoke Gifford, BS34 8SF. They canbe returned in electronic format to admissions@bteacademy.co.uk and hard copies can besent to the school address. Applications will beaccepted from September 2014.Year 10 published admissionnumbersThe BTE Academy has an agreed publishedadmission number of 132 pupils for Year 10.Application process for year 102015Applications for a place in Year 10 for September2015 can be made by completing the applicationform for your home local authority. These areavailable on-line.Additionally, please can you complete thenotification of application form which can befound at http://www.bteacademy.co.uk/admissions. We can then track all applications.The closing date for applications is 31 October2014. Any applications received after this date willnot be considered in the first round of allocationsand will be treated as a late application.For any application enquiries, please emailadmissions@bteacademy.co.uk for furtherguidance.The over-subscription criteriaConsideration of applicationsThe BTE Academy will consider all applicationsfor places. Where fewer than the publishedadmission number for any relevant age group arereceived, the BTE Academy will offer places to allthose who have applied.Where the number of applications for admissionis greater than the published admission number,applications will be considered against the criteriaset out below.
