<strong>Admission</strong> <strong>to</strong> The Ridings’ Federation Yate & Winterbourne International Academies<strong>Admission</strong> <strong>to</strong>The Ridings’ Federation Yate& Winterbourne InternationalAcademiesProcedure for admitting students <strong>to</strong>the federation<strong>Admission</strong> numberThe Ridings’ Federation of Academies Trust hasthe following agreed admission numbers for theWinterbourne International Academy, subject<strong>to</strong> any changes approved or required by theSecretary of State, for subsequent years:a) 300 for students in Year 7.b) The Ridings’ Federation WinterbourneInternational Academy will admit studentsfrom other <strong>school</strong>s at age 16 and as such anadmission number will be required. Studentsalready at the academy have an au<strong>to</strong>maticentitlement <strong>to</strong> enter the sixth form providingthey meet the entry requirements.The minimum number of external candidatesadmitted <strong>to</strong> The Ridings’ Federation WinterbourneInternational Academy sixth form is 1. Thisconstitutes the sixth form admission number.The Ridings’ Federation WinterbourneInternational Academy has an anticipated sixthform roll of 380 students.The Ridings’ Federation of Academies Trust hasthe following agreed admission numbers for theYate International Academy, subject <strong>to</strong> anychanges approved or required by the Secretary ofState, for subsequent years:a) The academy has an agreed year group sizeof <strong>15</strong>0, with an external admission number of90. The <strong>to</strong>tal year group size of <strong>15</strong>0 will includestudents who transfer au<strong>to</strong>matically from theacademy’s Year 6. If fewer than 60 studentstransfer from Year 6, the academy will admi<strong>to</strong>ver the external admission number up <strong>to</strong> theoverall size of the Year 7 group of <strong>15</strong>0.b) The Ridings’ Federation Yate InternationalAcademy will operate a sixth form for a <strong>to</strong>talof <strong>15</strong>0 students. <strong>15</strong>0 places overall will beavailable in Years 12 and 13. The admissionnumber for Year 12 is 1. This is the number ofplaces which will be offered on an annual basis<strong>to</strong> eligible external applicants after transfer ofexisting Yate International Academy students.Additional external pupils will be admitted untilthe sixth form provision meets its capacityof <strong>15</strong>0 students with the necessary entryrequirements.Process of applicationArrangements for applications for places at theFederation will be made in accordance with <strong>South</strong>Gloucestershire Council’s co-ordinated admissionarrangements and will be made on the commonapplication form provided by the applicant’shome authority and administered by <strong>South</strong>Gloucestershire Council.The Ridings’ Federation of Academies Trustwill use the following timetable for applications<strong>to</strong> the Federation each year (exact dates withinthe months may vary from year <strong>to</strong> year) which,whenever possible, will fit in with the commontimetable agreed by <strong>South</strong> GloucestershireCouncil.a) By September - The Ridings’ Federation ofAcademies Trust will publish in its prospectusinformation about the arrangements foradmission, including over-subscription criteria,for the following September (e.g. in September<strong>2014</strong> for admission in September 20<strong>15</strong>). Thiswill include details of open evenings andother opportunities for prospective studentsand their parents/carers <strong>to</strong> visit the academy.The Ridings’ Federation of Academies Trustwill also provide information in relation <strong>to</strong> theAcademies <strong>to</strong> <strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire Council86Apply on-line at: www.southglos.gov.uk/admissions
