<strong>Admission</strong> <strong>to</strong> The Ridings’ Federation Yate & Winterbourne International Academieswithin the Area of Prime Responsibility than thenumber of places available at the academy,priority will be given <strong>to</strong> those children wholive closest <strong>to</strong> the academy. In determiningwhich applicants live closest <strong>to</strong> the academy,distances from home <strong>to</strong> academy will bemeasured in a straight line between theaddress point of the child’s home and a centralpoint within the main academy building (using<strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire Council’s computerisedmapping system).After places have been allocated fromwithin the Area of Prime Responsibility, anyremaining places will be allocated <strong>to</strong> thosechildren who live closest <strong>to</strong> the academy. Indetermining which applicants live closest <strong>to</strong> theacademy, distances from home <strong>to</strong> academywill be measured in a straight line between theaddress point of the child’s home and a centralpoint within the main academy building (using<strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire Council’s computerisedmapping system).4. Tie breaker: Lots will be drawn by a seniorexecutive of The Ridings’ Federation ofAcademies who is independent of theadmissions process.<strong>Admission</strong> - post 16 admissionThe Ridings’ Federation of Academies Trust willpublish specific criteria in relation <strong>to</strong> minimumacademic entrance requirements for admission <strong>to</strong>the post 16 provision. These criteria are the samefor internal and external transfers. These criteriawill be published annually in the local authority’spost 16 area prospectus and in the academy’sown prospectus.Where the number of applications exceeds thenumber of post 16 places available and afterthe admission of students with Statements ofSpecial Educational Needs where one of TheRidings’ Federation Academies is named on thestatement, or an Education, Health and Care Plan,the criteria will be applied in the order in whichthey are set out as detailed for admission <strong>to</strong> Year7.Documentary evidenceIn fairness <strong>to</strong> all parents/carers, The Ridings’Federation of Academies reserves the right <strong>to</strong>require documentary evidence in support ofthe application. For example, evidence of achild’s date of birth, parent/carer responsibility,the validity of a family address and, if this is notproduced, The Ridings’ Federation of AcademiesTrust reserves the right <strong>to</strong> make its own enquiries.Examples of evidence which may be requestedinclude a birth certificate, a copy of a cour<strong>to</strong>rder, a solici<strong>to</strong>r’s letter confirming exchangeof contracts (and completion date on a newproperty), a rental agreement, a letter from anemployer, a solici<strong>to</strong>r’s letter confirming residency,a letter from a bank or building society, a childbenefit book or evidence of the child’s residency.Withdrawing offersOnce the offer of a place has been made, TheRidings’ Federation of Academies may withdrawthis but only in very limited circumstances, forexample:❚ where the application was fraudulent orintentionally misleading; or❚ where a parent/carer has not responded <strong>to</strong> theoffer within a reasonable time.There will be a right of appeal <strong>to</strong> an independentappeal panel for internal students refused transferand external applicants refused admission.Operation of waiting listsSubject <strong>to</strong> any provisions regarding waiting listsin <strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire Council’s co-ordinatedadmission scheme, each academy will operatea waiting list [for each year group]. Where in anyyear either academy receives more applicationsfor places than there are places available, awaiting list will operate. This will be maintained byThe Ridings’ Federation of Academies Trust andit will be open <strong>to</strong> any parent/carer <strong>to</strong> ask for his orher child’s name <strong>to</strong> be placed on the waiting list,following an unsuccessful application.88Apply on-line at: www.southglos.gov.uk/admissions
