Any other evidence provided byparents/carers will also be considered in reachinga decision on the home address for admissionspurposes.Appeals - year 7 September intakeappealsAfter the end of Oc<strong>to</strong>ber (closing date forapplications), <strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire Councilwill send <strong>to</strong> the college lists of all the applicants.Each list will include all those stating a preferencefor the college but will not state the preferences.The council will allocate up <strong>to</strong> 180 students.Parents/carers will be informed of the allocationof places. Included in this information will bean appeal form and explana<strong>to</strong>ry guidance. Ifparents/carers wish <strong>to</strong> appeal they need <strong>to</strong>complete and return the appeals form.An independent appeal panel will be convenedby <strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire Council at which bothparents/carers and the college will present theircases. Decisions made by the panel are legallybinding.Waiting listsThe waiting list comprises those childrenrefused a place whose parents/carers havelodged a formal appeal or asked <strong>to</strong> go on awaiting list <strong>to</strong>gether with any late applicationsreceived. A waiting list will be maintained by<strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire Council for any vacancieswhich occur until the end of Term 2 and thendiscarded. Priority order on the waiting list willbe determined by the over-subscription criteria,not by the date of joining the waiting list. Childrenwho are the subject of a direction by a localauthority <strong>to</strong> admit or who are allocated <strong>to</strong> a <strong>school</strong>in accordance with the Fair Access Pro<strong>to</strong>col musttake precedence over those on a waiting list.Where a place becomes available and the localauthority, after using all advised contact details,is unable <strong>to</strong> contact a successful applicant for aplace within two <strong>school</strong> weeks, the available placewill be offered <strong>to</strong> the next child <strong>to</strong> qualify for aplace. Where an applicant decides <strong>to</strong> place theirchildren on a waiting list, it is for the applicant <strong>to</strong>keep <strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire Council informed ofupdated contact and address details.All other applications for places for <strong>South</strong>Gloucestershire <strong>secondary</strong> <strong>school</strong>s duringthe year including those <strong>to</strong> other year groups,will be considered using the relevant oversubscriptioncriteria for the <strong>school</strong> concernedand in accordance with the in-year admissionarrangements set out in the “In-year admissions”section.In-year admissions❚ Applications for in-year admissions aremade directly <strong>to</strong> the college and thecollege processes these in line with agreedprocedures.❚ Parents/carers are welcome <strong>to</strong> visit the collegeprior <strong>to</strong> application, meet relevant staff anddiscuss the college’s ethos.❚ If the year group is full or over-subscribedthen the college will refuse the place but theapplicant will be given the opportunity <strong>to</strong>appeal and an appeals form will be supplied.An independent appeal panel will be convenedby <strong>South</strong> Gloucestershire Council at whichboth parents/carers and the college will presenttheir cases.
