Cleminshaw, Ph.D., CoordinatorProgramThis certificate program is a special course <strong>of</strong> study along with undergraduate andgraduate degree programs in various departments and colleges throughout the<strong>University</strong>. Undergraduate students will earn the certificate upon graduation intheir degree program. Individuals who already hold undergraduate or graduatedegrees may also pursue the certificate. Students with an undergraduate degreewho do not seek a graduate degree may pursue the certificate in the postbaccalaureateprogram. Students who already hold a graduate degree may be admittedto the program as non-degree graduate students. Students pursuing graduatedegrees will receive their graduate certificate upon completion <strong>of</strong> the requirementsfor their graduate degree. <strong>The</strong> program represents a concentration in currenttheoretical knowledge and practice in home-based intervention. It addsanother dimension to the knowledge and skills a student is able to <strong>of</strong>fer in themany pr<strong>of</strong>essions that relate to services to at-risk children and their families. Thiscourse <strong>of</strong> study coordinates multidisciplinary training <strong>of</strong> personnel in home-basedintervention and helps to meet the need for trained pr<strong>of</strong>essionals in home-basedintervention.333<strong>The</strong> undergraduate and graduate curriculum committees <strong>of</strong> the Center for FamilyStudies will oversee the certificate program and certify through the Director <strong>of</strong> theCertificate Programs in Home-Based Intervention that all requirements for the certificatehave been completed.AdmissionTo participate in the program at the graduate level, the student should·• Be formally admitted to <strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Akron</strong> <strong>Graduate</strong> Sohool.• Make written application to the program countersigned by student's major academicadviser (if applicable).• Have an interview with the Director <strong>of</strong> the Certificate Programs in Home-BasedIntervention.• Receive written notification for admission from the Director <strong>of</strong> the CertificatePrograms in Home-Based Intervention.• Consult with the Director <strong>of</strong> the Certificate Programs in Home-Based Interventionto formulate a program <strong>of</strong> study.All students enrolled in the home-based certificate programs will enroll in the corecourse in Home-Based Intervention. Students enrolled in the undergraduate andpostbaccalaureate program will enroll in the courses at the undergraduate level.Students admitted to the <strong>Graduate</strong> Sohool as degree seeking or non-degree studentswill enroll in graduate courses. <strong>Graduate</strong> students enrolled in the core coursesat the 500 level will have an additional graduate level project.Students will complete a minimum <strong>of</strong> 18 hours <strong>of</strong> graduate credits in core andelective coursework.
