Mission Description and Budget Item JustificationThis project supports the System Development and Demonstration(SDD) of military Construction Equipment used in support of horizontal and vertical engineerconstruction tasks; required in order to develop a variety of enabling systems that will support and improve mobility for Engineers in the Brigade Combat Teams (BCT)and Combat Support Brigades (CSB) modular forces. This project also supports the SDD of enabling systems to meet critical capabilities of joint interdependencethrough Air and Ground (A/G) Line of Communication (LOC) and Rapid Tactical Earthmoving (RTE) repair and construction which increase the operational reach ofmodular forces. The BCT and CSB systems include: High Mobility Engineer Excavators (HMEE); Scrapers, Scoop Loaders, Skid Steer Loaders, Dozers, Cranes andGraders. This project will also support the Research into the Deuce Replacement and the Energy Productivity Study per Assistant Secretary of the <strong>Army</strong> for Aquisition,Logistics & Technology (ASA(ALT) memo dated 4 June 2009.B.
