Mission Description and Budget Item JustificationCombat Service Support (CSS) Automated Information System Interface (CAISI) is a high-data-rate wireless system that provides sensitive information (SI) and is thebackbone for logistics connectivity down to individual Combat Service Support (CSS) computer systems located within the sustainment area. The CAISI design effortfocuses on integrating Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) equipment from various manufacturers to create a standard deployable set of communications equipment.Current CAISI equipment is being fielded with new equipment training to logistics units Army-wide. Maintenance support is provided at depot-level with additionalsupport at forward repair activities. Computer based training, on-line refresher training and technical support is also provided for CAISI users. CAISI employs adeployable wireless LAN infrastructure linking Standard Army Management Information Systems (STAMIS) computers in a 7 square-kilometer area using wirelessbridging. CAISI design incorporates full lifecycle sustainability features to ensure reliability and supportability in full spectrum operations.FY12 Base funding provides follow-on testing, software and hardware upgrades, integration and IA compliance.B.
