Acquisition StrategyThe IMS Scorpion was being developed as an evolutionary acquisition program utilizing an incremental approach. This strategy addressed all IMS Scorpioncapabilities in the requirements document. The first increment would have supported National Landmine Policy and provided full spectrum weapons systemeffectiveness in offensive, defensive, and stability operations. In June 2006, a competitive Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) Contract was awardedto Textron Defense Systems of Wilmington, MA. This contract will be closed out September 2011.E.
