In the past, theobutsudan offered a valuable spiritual resource for Japanese AmericanJødo Shin practitioners; today, it is still able to serve as a potent means bywhich Japanese American Sansei, Yonsei, and Gosei may be able to fruitfullyembrace their Buddhist heritage and construct their own “spiritualhome.”
