too long, you can delete several entries from <strong>the</strong> list simultaneously<br />

by clicking on “show and edit complete list.” Now you can remove<br />

pages by checking <strong>the</strong>m and clicking on <strong>the</strong> button Remove<br />

checked items from watchlist.<br />

In <strong>the</strong> user toolbar, you will find <strong>the</strong> tab “preferences.” It will take<br />

you to a display in which you can select a number of settings regarding<br />

how <strong>the</strong> wiki should look and behave when you are logged in<br />

(see Fig. 7.3). We will discuss <strong>the</strong> various options in order of appearance<br />

below. Once you have indicated all of your preferences,<br />

click on Save preferences to apply <strong>the</strong>m. Note that old page data<br />

may still be in <strong>the</strong> browser cache and may need to be emptied before<br />

you can see <strong>the</strong> new settings. If you wish to apply <strong>the</strong> default settings,<br />

click on Reset preferences.<br />

Under “User data,” you can indicate preferences regarding your real<br />

name and email address. You can also give yourself a nickname that<br />

will be used when you employ <strong>the</strong> signature abbreviation ~~~~.<br />

You can also change your password here as well.<br />

The item Quickbar settings is only relevant in <strong>the</strong> skins Standard<br />

and CologneBlue, and determines <strong>the</strong> location of <strong>the</strong> navigation area.<br />

You can set <strong>the</strong> desired display design under <strong>the</strong> item Skins.<br />

“Rendering math” is interesting for those who frequently deal<br />

with ma<strong>the</strong>matical formulas. Here, you have <strong>the</strong> option of displaying<br />

<strong>the</strong> formulas as images, HTML forms or text. The ideal setting depends<br />

on <strong>the</strong> browser used and <strong>the</strong> bandwidth of your Internet connection.<br />
