An interesting method of standardizing spelling can be found in <strong>the</strong><br />

search for “<strong>Pages</strong> with misspellings.” Of course, MediaWiki has no<br />

built-in spell checker. Instead, <strong>the</strong> search is aimed at entries on a<br />

page [Wiki-Name]:List of common misspellings. The list of errors on<br />

this page simply consists of a nonnumbered list of spelling mistakes.<br />

Generally, <strong>the</strong> correct spelling is indicated in paren<strong>the</strong>ses:<br />

* mispeelings (misspellings)<br />

O<strong>the</strong>r text that is not part of <strong>the</strong> list is ignored. Thus, you can put <strong>the</strong><br />

list in alphabetical order, for instance, and subdivide it in sections<br />

according to <strong>the</strong> respective letters, or make comments on <strong>the</strong> misspelled<br />

words. The first word of <strong>the</strong> listing is <strong>the</strong> misspelled word.<br />

However, <strong>the</strong> error message on <strong>the</strong> function page shows <strong>the</strong> complete<br />

line of <strong>the</strong> listing and thus also information on <strong>the</strong> correct spelling<br />

(see Fig. 7.5). Directly underneath, <strong>the</strong> pages are listed that contain<br />

<strong>the</strong> misspelled word.<br />
