What is remarkable isthat even no-thing proclaims His praise.Both faith and unbelief are seeking TheeAnd shouting Thy undivided Unity.This house is built out <strong>of</strong> forgetfulness. Allbodies and forms in this world are sustainedthrough forgetfulness. Even our full-grown bodiesgrew by forgetting. But remembrance <strong>of</strong> God cannotexist without forgetfulness, for somethingmust be forgotten before there can be remembrance.Therefore, faith and unbelief are one andthe same, since one does not exist without theother. They are indivisible, and God is one. Godis alone and has no partner.Someone said: “Sayed Burhan al-Din discoursesvery well, yet he quotes Sana’i too frequently.”<strong>Rumi</strong> answered: What you say is true: the sunis excellent, yet it gives light. Is that a fault? UsingSana’i’s words casts light on his discourse. Thesun casts light on things, and through that light itis possible to see. The purpose <strong>of</strong> light is to see.After all, this sun in our heaven illuminates thingsthat have no use. But the real sun shows thingsthat are <strong>of</strong> use.
