Corporate ActionsAccreditation <strong>in</strong> all three market sectorsfor the sixth year runn<strong>in</strong>g.2.12.2 Platform Based BPO: Platform based Bus<strong>in</strong>essProcess Outsourc<strong>in</strong>g (BPO) is an outsourc<strong>in</strong>gmodel <strong>in</strong> which the Company utilizes establishedtechnology platforms to provide bus<strong>in</strong>esssolutions and services to customers forexecut<strong>in</strong>g highly standardized processes.The strategic driver beh<strong>in</strong>d such a serviceoffer<strong>in</strong>g from the Company is the <strong>in</strong>creasedrecognition amongst organizations thatsignificant leverage opportunities exists <strong>in</strong>shar<strong>in</strong>g costs and <strong>in</strong>vestments for execut<strong>in</strong>gcritical bus<strong>in</strong>ess processes. TCS believes that itsability to create and deliver value to customerswill be superior when it controls all aspects -people, process and technology - of suchbus<strong>in</strong>ess areas. TCS essentially envisagescreat<strong>in</strong>g bus<strong>in</strong>ess process utility services, whichcomb<strong>in</strong>e the best of applications, <strong>in</strong>frastructureand BPO services.The Company started the Platform BPO unit <strong>in</strong>April 2008 as a strategic growth bus<strong>in</strong>ess unit.The platform BPO unit has seen good traction<strong>in</strong> Human Resource Outsourc<strong>in</strong>g (HRO)platform, and has conceptualized and creatednew Platforms <strong>in</strong> select areas of F<strong>in</strong>ance &Account<strong>in</strong>g (F&A), Procurement and Analytics.TCS is work<strong>in</strong>g closely with partners to takethese growth opportunities to the market.As per analyst estimates, Platform BPO whichconstitutes 5-10% of the overall BPO servicesmarket today (~$190 billion) is expected to<strong>in</strong>crease to around 15% by 2010.2.12.3 Small and Medium Bus<strong>in</strong>ess: The Companyhas launched the Small and Medium Bus<strong>in</strong>ess(SMB) Strategic Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Unit (SBU) with theobjective of offer<strong>in</strong>g “IT-as-a-Service”framework. This is an <strong>in</strong>novative bus<strong>in</strong>ess model<strong>in</strong> terms of provid<strong>in</strong>g and manag<strong>in</strong>g IT remotely,and charg<strong>in</strong>g for these services on subscriptionbasis. SMBs are gett<strong>in</strong>g the experience ofcustomized low-cost solutions, scalable to theirgrow<strong>in</strong>g bus<strong>in</strong>ess needs. The service is modeledon the “pay-as-you-use” and “build-as-yougrow”paradigms.The services and solutions with<strong>in</strong> “IT-as-aservice”<strong>in</strong>clude the core bus<strong>in</strong>ess applicationssuch as ERP, CRM, F<strong>in</strong>ance and account<strong>in</strong>g amongothers.2.13 Services and Offer<strong>in</strong>gs: The details of theCompany’s Service Offer<strong>in</strong>gs are discussedbelow.2.13.1 IT Solutions and Services: These services<strong>in</strong>clude: Application Development andMa<strong>in</strong>tenance, Migration and Re-eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g aswell as Package Implementation services.
