Together with her colleagues, she makessure that Skanska’s offer is better than those ofcompetitors.Since the summer of 2011 she has been ExecutiveVice President of Skanska’s British construction unit.As a new engineering graduate, Cecilia Fasthjoined Skanska in Gothenburg, Sweden. At the localcommercial property development unit, she workedin practically every position – from management anddivestment of individual properties to the entire bigproperty portfolio, including the development ofnew projects from concept to fully leased building. She helped start up a Swedish nationwide unit forthe development of logistics properties and shoppingmalls. During these years the Fasth family grew, withthe addition of sons Hugo and Melker. With ten years of industry experience, she tookover in 2006 as President of Skanska PropertiesGothenburg.“It was fun and we had a good team. I like peopleand buildings, and creating something good like theGreen Skyscraper in Gårda is gratifying. It’s also veryenjoyable to see employees developing professionally.”In 2009 she was offered the job of runningSkanska’s global Green Refurbishments initiative.”Very exciting, because we assumed a leadingposition international. We have strong arguments.Existing buildings are the largest single contributorto greenhouse gases, and a green renovationfuture-proofs the value of a property.”Today Cecilia is responsible for starting up projectdevelopment in the United Kingdom. Skanska’sconcept of modern, flexible, green office buildings– which is a success in Sweden and on the Europeancontinent – will be offered to tenants and investorsin the British market.“We’ll pursue this at Skanska UK in the form of‘bundled construction,’ which means that we will beresponsible for the entire development process butwill not build up a management portfolio. Insteadwe’ll sell the property, in principle before we startconstruction,” says Cecilia, who likes London andthe international scene, even though her daily familylogistics are a bit more difficult.Skanska Annual Report 2011 Employees 23
