<strong>Kinross</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> Corporation<strong>Maricunga</strong> <strong>Mine</strong> <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>Report</strong>16.1 Metallurgical Test Work 200316.1.1 Cyanide Soluble AssaysBoth gold and copper cyanide soluble analyses were routinely analyzed <strong>for</strong> Verde andPancho. Results were used to guide selection of samples <strong>for</strong> bottle roll and column leachtests. Cyanide copper analyses were also used to adjust process operating costs during pitoptimization of <strong>the</strong> resource model <strong>for</strong> Pancho. The mechanics of <strong>the</strong> Process CostAdjustment Factor (PCAF) are discussed elsewhere in this report.16.1.2 Direct Agitated Cyanidation (Bottle Roll) TestsBottle roll composite samples were selected from <strong>the</strong> half core library based on lithology,oxidation state, grade and spatial location. A total of 43 bottle roll samples were selectedfrom <strong>the</strong> Verde with an additional 15 samples collected from Pancho. The samples wereshipped to McClelland Laboratories, Nevada <strong>for</strong> testing.The gold grade selection criteria used <strong>for</strong> selection of <strong>the</strong> bottle roll tests were:• Low grade 0.50 to 0.75 g/t• Mid-grade 0.75 to 1.00 g/t and• High grade >1.0 g/tOxidation state was determined based on <strong>the</strong> visual logging of oxidation noted in <strong>the</strong>geological logs. Three distinct oxidation levels were defined.• Oxide >90% oxidation of sulphide• Mixed between 10% and 90% oxidation of sulphides and• Sulphide
