Kinross Gold CorporationMaricunga Mine Technical ReportStandards on Mineral Resources and Reserves, Definition and Guidelines Resourcesclassification was based on the variogram ranges for each zone, number of holes found inthe search ellipsoid and proximity of the composites to the center of the block beingestimated.17.5.1 Resource Classification VerdeThe model update resulted in a better understanding of the mineralization and its controls atVerde. The following conditions had to be met for classifying the blocks in the model.• Measured Resource – Information from three drill holes found in a 50 m searchellipsoid with the closest composite at a distance of 35 m or less.• Indicated Resource – Data from two drill holes found within a search of 70 m with theclosest composite at a maximum distance of 50 m.• Inferred Resource – Remainder of the blocks including all the blocks located inDomain 3.17.5.2 Resource Classification PanchoThe model is now including an epithermal upper portion that is drilled on approximately 35 mand a porphyry system drilled at depth with average drill spacing greater than 75 m in someareas. These considerations and the experience gained while mining at Verde also guidedthe new classification scheme used for Pancho. The following conditions had to be met forclassifying the blocks in the model.• Measured Resource – Information from three drill holes found in a 75 m searchellipsoid with the closest composite at a distance of 35 m or less.• Indicated Resource – Data from two drill holes found within a search of 100 m withthe closest composite at a maximum distance of 50 m.• Inferred Resource – Remainder of the blocks.17.6 Mineral Resource EstimateThe mineral resources estimated using a $625 gold price for Verde and Pancho as ofDecember 31, 2007 are presented in Table 17-5. Mineral resources are reported exclusivelyof reserves.89
