<strong>Kinross</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> Corporation<strong>Maricunga</strong> <strong>Mine</strong> <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>Report</strong>with azimuth and elevation. The software enables <strong>the</strong> user to specify <strong>the</strong> bench face angleand berm width <strong>for</strong> a given sector of <strong>the</strong> pit. The slope sectors specified by <strong>Gold</strong>er had twoazimuths, a “from” and a “to” (i.e. from 70 o ENE to 120 o ESE). In Vulcan, <strong>the</strong>se werespecified transition azimuths <strong>for</strong> each slope sector. Vulcan also inserts access rampsegments based on <strong>the</strong> design parameters and <strong>the</strong> location specified by <strong>the</strong> user.The following sections provide design details <strong>for</strong> each of <strong>the</strong> pit designs completed <strong>for</strong> thisstudy.East Verde Ultimate Pit DesignDue to <strong>the</strong> complex nature of <strong>the</strong> geology in <strong>the</strong> East Verde pit area a number of differentslope sectors had to be used <strong>for</strong> completing <strong>the</strong> original pit design. The sloperecommendations provided by <strong>Gold</strong>er in 2003 <strong>for</strong>med <strong>the</strong> basis of that design.Since <strong>the</strong>n, mining experience and geotechnical reviews allowed to modify slightly <strong>the</strong>angles. The most recent work was completed by A. Karzulovic and Ass. Ltda of Santiago inApril 2007.
