The works undertaken as part of the proposal may require the removal and/or trimming ofselected street trees in Darling Drive (only if required for access) and minimal trimming to thetrees on Market Street. This potential impact is considered in section 10. No potentiallysignificant impacts to flora and fauna have been identified. There would be no long term impacts to flora and fauna as a result of the proposal.13.6.2 Mitigation measuresThe following management and mitigation measures would be implemented to minimisepotential flora and fauna impacts:• Any fauna species found inhabiting the proposal site would be removed and relocated byan appropriately qualified wildlife handler.• Appropriate approvals would be sought from City of Sydney if any tree removal isrequired on Darling Drive.13.7 Aboriginal heritage13.7.1 Impact assessmentAs the study area has been substantially modified by urban development and subject toprevious ground disturbance, the risk of encountering any Indigenous heritage items isconsidered to be low. The works would be confined to an area previously disturbed byconstruction of the Monorail and other urban development activities. As a result, it is unlikelythat any items of significance would be encountered or impacted.13.7.2 Mitigation measuresThe following management and mitigation measures would be implemented to minimisepotential Aboriginal heritage impacts:• Removal works and machinery would be restricted to the designated work areas.• If an item or suspected item of indigenous heritage is discovered during works, all work inthat area would cease and the contractor or project manager would inform the Transportfor NSW Environmental Manager as soon as possible to determine the appropriatecourse of action.13.8 Cumulative impacts13.8.1 Impact assessmentCumulative impacts could occur if the timing of the proposal coincided with the construction ofother development within the study area. Such developments could include road/footpathupgrades, infrastructure construction, public utility works or commercial/residential development, undertaken by the NSW Government, City of Sydney and/or private developers. The Sydney CBD and Darling Harbour are continually subject to development/redevelopmentworks in response to the needs of this major business and entertainment destination. There arealso a number of developments already underway in the CBD that would need to be consideredin the sequencing of removal methodology tasks. Various developments subject to approval atthe local government level may also be underway during the works period.Major developments proposed or approved within or close to the study area include:• the Sydney International Convention Exhibition and Entertainment Precinct128 | GHD | Transport for NSW - Monorail Removal Project REF
