CityRail Nightride bus services run along Clarence Street, York Street and George Street (south<strong>of</strong> Park Street) between the hours <strong>of</strong> midnight and 5am. Some tourist bus services operatealong Darling Drive between 8.30am and 6pm.In terms <strong>of</strong> routes between Darling Harbour and the CBD, the 443, 448 and 501 buses connectPyrmont and Ultimo with the western CBD, but do not cover Liverpool Street, Pitt Street orMarket Street.7.2.4 Light Rail networkThe Sydney Light Rail corridor connects Central Station with Lilyfield in the inner west <strong>of</strong>Sydney, and travels via Pyrmont and Glebe. The Light Rail operates between Central andLilyfield between 6am and 11pm. The service reduces to operation between Central Station andThe Star casino from 11pm to 6am. Operating hours and frequencies are extended on Fridayand Saturday nights.The Light Rail crosses roads at a number <strong>of</strong> locations in the study area, including Darling Driveand Thomas Street. Three Light Rail stations, Convention Centre, Exhibition Centre andPaddy’s Market, are adjacent to the <strong>Monorail</strong> route.The <strong>Monorail</strong> travels along some <strong>of</strong> the Light Rail reserve, including along Darling Drive.The Light Rail route is being extended to Dulwich Hill, and this extension is expected to beoperational by 2014.7.2.5 Pedestrian/cyclist networkThere are many pedestrian/cyclist attractors within the proposal area, including touristattractions, shopping precincts, entertainment and convention facilities, commercialdevelopments and transport interchanges. There is a large pedestrian and cycle demandbetween Darling Harbour (as well as Pyrmont) and the CBD. This pedestrian demand is servedby Pyrmont Bridge and associated infrastructure, and has a large peak hour commutercomponent.Footpaths are generally two metres wide within the study area. Pedestrian/cyclist only facilitiesinclude:• Pyrmont Bridge: a shared pedestrian/cyclist facility connecting CBD in the east withPyrmont and Ultimo in the west. The bridge can also pivot, allowing boats to pass. The<strong>Monorail</strong> beam can open for taller boats.• Hay Street, between Darling Drive and Harbour Street (along the Sydney Light Rail line)• Powerhouse Museum pedestrian bridge• footbridges leading from Liverpool Street to Darling Harbour, over Harbour Street• footbridge to Pyrmont Bridge from Market Street, over the Western Distributor, HarbourStreet and Wheat Road• shared path connecting King Street with the eastern end <strong>of</strong> Pyrmont Bridge.Table 7.2 lists the cycle routes/infrastructure on roads within the study area.
