Infill slabsOnce the columns are removed, the penetrations through the bridge deck slab would bereplaced with a reinforced infill slab. The Sydney International Boat Show (1 to 5 August 2013)No works would take place under the swing span during the period 1 to 5 August (inclusive) andthe following week, to enable boats to enter and leave the boat show area. The swing spanwould remain fully operational if it is not removed by that stage.Access, traffic and pedestrian managementRemoval works access to Pyrmont Bridge would be from the western entry ramp to the bridge.Vehicular and plant access would be made available by controlled entry at the north of DarlingDrive, coinciding with the bottom of the Bridge entry ramp. At the controlled entry, vehiclestravelling from Murray Street, Pyrmont Bridge Road and Darling Drive can access the bridge.During the transport of rail beams and columns on heavy trucks, a contra-flow in thesouthbound lane of Darling Drive may be possible to enable trucks to slip in and out through alocalised northbound lane closure.Pyrmont Street can be used for demolition purposes by implementing local traffic controlmeasures. This localised closure is not anticipated to cause heavy disruptions to traffic, thusthere is no foreseeable requirement to conduct the works at night.Works would move progressively along the bridge in two column span work areas. In suchareas, a three metre wide pedestrian access would be provided. Temporary fencing would beerected between the work areas and entry ramp when truck movements are taking place. Thefencing would provide separation between pedestrians and the moving trucks/cranes.There is no vehicular or plant access available on the eastern abutment of Pyrmont Bridge, however pedestrian access is to be maintained with adequate separation from the work zone.5.6.3 EquipmentIndicative equipment requirements for these phases is provided in Table 5.5.Table 5.5 Indicative equipment for work component 5Work phasePhase 1 -PreparationsPhase 2 - InitialworkWorks performedrelative to deckAbove & below deckAbove and below deck, and on water forremoval of submarinecablingEquipmentHand tools and generatorsUtility truckFranna crane or hiab truckCable cuttersBoom lifts (if required for accessibility)DaymakersJet cleaner (if required)Temporary concrete or water-filled barriersScaffolding and falsework (if access below deck isinadequate for removal works)Delivery trucksHand tools and generatorsUtility trucksFranna crane or hiab truckDelivery trucksGHD | Transport for NSW - Monorail Removal Project REF | 39
