Monorail Removal Project - Review of Environmental Factors (REF)

• identification of services and their locations• installation of 3 metres wide pedestrian walkway and separation of Monorail workface onbridge• installation of security fencing and works signage• establishment of demolition contractor on site• establishment of crane and truck parking area on western on-ramp to bridge• establishment of below-deck access or make modifications to existing access to makesafe the access required for enabling works below deck.• coordination with SHFA and other stakeholders• prepare for removal works vehicle/plant access, and traffic management setup.Phase 2 would involve carrying out the following initial work:• termination of services, removal of cabling and ancillary equipment• termination of and removal of hydraulic rams for swing span Monorail• removal of submarine cabling to the Monorail• installation of protection barricades for rail beam and column removal• removal of fittings and fixtures on columns.Phase 3 would involve removal of the following above deck:• rail beams• signs, fixtures and lighting for disposal or reuse• hydraulic machinery platform• bridge cabin• block seats and lifting rams• power conduits and boxes• electronic ‘stop don’t walk’ signal• shared path signage.Phase 4 would involve removal of the following below deck:• support column (lifted from deck level)• column M108 including perspex and steel feature• base plates of columns• fluoro lighting below deck• hydraulic piping system• any structural elements below deck level related to the Monorail service and not directlyaffecting the Pyrmont Bridge structure (cable trays, support beams, etc).Phase 5 would involve cleaning up and making good, including:• make good of bridge elements below deck, where affected by Monorail removal works• form, reo and pour deck infills at Monorail column locations• make good expansion joints at clash with Monorail columnsGHD | Transport for NSW - Monorail Removal Project REF | 37
