PP-II-35STUDY OF THE HYDROISOMERIZATION REACTION OF MONOTERPENESOVER THE NOBLE METAL CATALYSTSGavrilova E.V., Deliy I.V., Simakova I.L.Boreskov Institute of Catalysis SB RAS, Novosibirsk, RussiaE-mail: simakova@catalysis.ruReaction of the double-bond migration is a key-stage for producing vitamins, drugsubstances and fragrances such as: myrcenol, menthol, nerol, lyral, geraniol 1 . Alpha-pinene ismuch more abundant and has been less valuable as a starting material for chemical synthesis.Amounts of β-pinene that are consuming in production is much bigger than amounts that canbe produced from turpentine, so grand amounts of β-pinene can be obtained by theisomerization reaction of α-pinene. Analysis of the literature data show that the mostecological and promising way is the isomerization process over Group VIII metals and gold.In the present work the mixture of pinenes was used: α-pinene – 94.91%, β-pinene –2.34%. Ru/C, Au/δ-Al 2 O 3 , Au/SiO 2 , Au/γ-Al 2 O 3 were used as catalysts. In the previous workthe influence of the solvent (hexane, octane, DMF, ethanol, benzene, propanol-2, i-buthanol)on the content of products and rate in the hydroisomerization reaction of the mixture β-pineneand α-pinene has been studied. The influence of the particles’ size of the gold catalyst on the content of products hasbeen studied. The mechanism of the isomerization reaction has been proposed 2 .References1. G.Ohloff/Scent and fragrances.
