PP-II-140CYCLOHEXANE OXIDATION OVER POLYGALACTURONANE STABILIZEDCOPPER COMPLEXESTokatabayeva F., Zharmagambetova A., Dzumekeyeva A., Mukhamedzhanova S.D.V. Sokolsky Institute of Organic Catalysis and Electrochemisrty MS&HE RK,Almaty, Republic of KazakhstanE-mail: alima@nursat.kzCopper complexes with polygalacturonan active in catalytic reaction of cyclohexaneoxidation with hydrogen peroxide in mild conditions were synthesized. Yield of productsdepending on reactants ratio and catalyst were studied. The structure of the copper complexeswas studied with EPR, IR and electron microscopy methods.Hydrocarbons are an important source for petrochemical and chemical industries. Suchimportant products as alcohols, aldehydes, ketones and fatty acids can be produced byoxidation of saturated hydrocarbon which are the basic components of oil and natural gas.Catalytic oxidation of hydrocarbons with oxygen and hydrogen peroxide over polymerimmobilizedmetal complexes is similar to enzymatic reactions and carried out with highselectivity at low temperatures over small amount of catalyst. However, polymer matrix canhinder access of the reagents to the active sites. To improve properties of such catalysts, thinlayerpolymer-immobilized copper complexes were supported on alumina. Polygalacturonane(PGU) was used as matrix for metal fixation because natural polymers are often applied assupports for many biological and biochemical application. PGU is a polysaccharide with highadsorption capacity. The prepared catalysts as well as unsupported metal/PGU complex and trivialheterogenous Cu/Al 2 O 3 were compared in cyclohexane oxidation with hydrogen peroxideunder mild conditions. The supported polymer-metal complex showed the best catalyticactivity. Conversion of cyclohexane was 47.7 %. Lower yields of oxygen-containingproducts over Cu-PGU complex can be explained by limited access to the active sites (Cuions) located inside polymer globules. Copper leaching from Cu/Al 2 O 3 was observed in theprocess of cyclohexane oxidation. The yield of cyclohexanone over 10 %Cu/PGU/Al 2 O 3 wasfive times higher than that for 8,3 % on 10 %Cu/Al 2 O 3 . The yield of cyclohexanol over thesame catalyst was increased 10 times from 1.2 % to 12 %.419
