A short distance beyond where the Greenville Branch and Old Federal Road merge, the roaddivides again (Figure 8-15). The Montgomery Branch heads north along County Highway 31 forapproximately 14 miles to Montgomery, and the Old Federal Road bears northeast onto private land for20 miles to Mount Meigs, where the Montgomery Branch merges again with the Old Federal Road(Figures 8-16 and 8-17). The Old Federal Road, where it diverges from the Montgomery Branch betweenPintlala and Mount Meigs, was only used for about 15 years, so it is unlikely any of the old road bed hassurvived. Circa 1950s aerial photographs of this portion of the Old Federal Road were examined andrevealed no remnants of old road bed. The Old Federal Road does not follow any existing roads in thisarea and no historic structures are present along the route.Figure 8-15.
