NONCRITICAL SUBTASK STANDARDSNoncritical subtask standards apply to the techniques and procedures crews use forsuccessful engagements. Even if the crew fails to meet these subtask standards, they canstill meet the engagement task standards.a. Response Terms. Commander or gunner must use proper response terms insupport of the leader subtask standards.(1) Gunner confirms target by announcing "Identified." (For Bradley ODS and A3models, see Chapter 6.)(2) Commander or gunner announces, "Cannot identify" when he can not identifythe target.(3) Gunner announces "Cannot engage" when he is inhibited from firing and thecommander must engage the target(s).(4) Commander or gunner notifies the crew by announcing "On the way" before hefires a weapon system.8-14
