periences, to improve themselves and acquire knowledgefrom older and more experienced colleagues.During <strong>2012</strong>, the program was realized in two phasesduring which 323 apprentices had signed the employmentagreement with <strong>NIS</strong> j.s.c. Our partners in co-financing ofthe project were the Autonomous Province of Vojvodinaand local self-governments of Pancevo, Novi Sad, Kikinda,Zrenjanin and Novi Becej.Professional development ofemployees<strong>NIS</strong> actively invests in development on knowledgeand skills of its employees. By construction of the systemof high-quality and continual training, <strong>NIS</strong> wishesto ensure that its employees are provided with the opportunityto gain training and acquire high qualificationswhich correspond to European and internationalstandards Employees’ training and development planwas designed to meet the needs of the Company’sbusiness processes, as well as to be in line with thecorporate culture, which <strong>NIS</strong> wishes to develop.All participant of the “<strong>NIS</strong> chance <strong>2012</strong>“ programwere chosen by special selection which included a seriesof tests and knowledge checks, analysis of the averagemarks during education, as well as an interview with futurementors within the Company. Sc. in Environment Protection Engineering 9Other 13Total 216Secondary school degreeMechanical technicians 38Chemical technicians 6Electricians 39Locksmiths 24Total 107Total 323Training and Development Sector deals with organizationof various kinds of trainings and programs,such as:•Technical trainings (professional trainings from thespecific business area – handling of specific equipment,etc.), within which, we wish to point out the «Operator2013» through which, 60 employees were trained in thePancevo Refinery.•Non-technical trainings intended for developmentof managerial and leader skills (so-called Softskills), (seminars, conferences, symposia…),•Foreign languages (pursuant to the businessrequirements), which included 532 employees•Legally mandatory trainings, licenses and other.Training and Development Sector pays great attentionto development of specific training programs foremployees, and especially to the inheritance programs.For the purpose of further personnel development, andin accordance with the Company’s strategy, special programsof “inheritance“ are developed, which, as a setgoal, have training, education and development of personnelwho should, in the following period, take up theresponsible and managerial positions within the Company.The most significant program from this field is theproject “Personnel reserve”, which, in <strong>2012</strong>, included 451employees. The “Leader 2013” program was also successfullyrealized for 27 employees.Furthermore, great attention is paid to the programof development of the «Investment project managers»intended for employees who shall be, or who already arethe leaders of significant projects within the Company(total of 72 participants).Each of these programs is intended for developmentof competencies of certain groups of employees andtheir common goal is training of employees for fulfilmentof the long term ambitious goals of the Company.Great attention is dedicated to cooperation with theBelgrade and Novi Sad Universities, within which the followingprograms were created:• Specialist studies «European integrations» (totalof 16 participants) for the purpose of developmentof expertise necessary for work in Europe,for employees who, within the Company, arealready at, or shall, in a very near future, take thepositions which require such expertise• MBA studies (total of 13) for the purpose ofdevelopment of expertise necessary for moresuccessful work at current or future managingpositions.For the purpose of personnel development but alsothe career management, the program “Young specialists”was initiated, with 120 employees included. Thisprogram is intended for the youngest colleagues, employedin the Company, for the purpose of developmentof their professional, expert and leader competencies,in order to support their career management from thebeginning of employment within the Company, whichthus, contributes a long-term realization of the strategicgoals.Besides this, within the project of cooperation withthe Universities and other educational institutions, realizationof the following projects was initiated:1) A Memorandum of cooperation with the Facultyof Mining and Geology, Belgrade University was signed(25.12.<strong>2012</strong>) for the purpose of creation of conditionsfor establishment and successful realization of allforms of scientific and expert cooperation in the areaof education of highly qualified staff, trained for workregarding geological and mining explorations, refiningand distribution of oil and oil derivatives. Under theMemorandum on cooperation, realization of two projectswas initiated: adaptation and equipping of the classroomat the Faculty of Mining and Geology, which shall ensurebetter and more modern conditions for work andstudying and creation/modification and preparation foraccreditation of new modules, i.e. study programs at thebasic, i.e. master academic studies, with the purpose ofeducation of highly expert personnel, trained for workat geological and mining explorations, refining anddistribution of oil and oil derivatives.2) Realization of the Olympics Knowledge projectwas initiated. A Memorandum on cooperation withthe Association of Mathematicians of Serbia andthe Association of Physicists of Serbia was signed(19.12.<strong>2012</strong>). <strong>NIS</strong> shall support the organization andrealization of all levels of competition regardingmathematics and physics: school, municipal andregional, republic (state), as well as the prestigeinternational competition and it shall speciallyparticipate in preparation and realization of the SerbianMathematics Olympics and the Serbian PhysicsOlympics for high-school students. After finishing of thecompetitions, <strong>NIS</strong> shall organize a summer camp inBecici for 30 best participants of each Olympics and theirprofessors-lecturers. Furthermore, a project of supportand organization of competition in Russian language andpopularization of Russian language in the educationalinstitutions in the Republic of Serbia was initiated.3) The Memorandums on cooperation with theFaculty of Economy, Belgrade University and Facultyof Organizational Sciences, Belgrade University weresigned. The basic goal of this cooperation is renderingof an opportunity to the most successful studentsto realize their careers in <strong>NIS</strong>. At the same time, thegoal is a general improvement of knowledge andinforming of student on business processes in <strong>NIS</strong>, aswell as rendering of an opportunity of more successfuldevelopment of their competencies in direct contactwith practice, even before finishing of their studies.The cooperation shall be realized through the followingactivities: professor recommendations for inclusionof the best students in the practice programs in <strong>NIS</strong>126 • Human Resources Annual report <strong>2012</strong>Annual report <strong>2012</strong>Human Resources • 127
