The lower the value ofthe external resistor the greater the braking power. The resistors can dissipate large amounts of energy for short periods but whenused continuously, their dissipation is considerably less. In order to protect the resistors from overload, the EBU limits its dutycycle (ratio of time on to time off) to 10%.
