C. 3. General Medical Health Screening
Project Reference : Service
Project Name : Medical Health Screening
Programme (Wing) Leader : Bro Mahendran
Project Leader : Bro Rajoo
1. Introduction
Sai Centres throughout Malaysia have been organizing Medical Camps for a long
time. However, the effectiveness of these camps leave much to be desired. Swami
says, “God will not ask you, when and where did you do service? He will ask with what
motive did you do it? You may boast of its quantity but God seeks quality, the quality
of the heart, the purity of the mind, the holiness of the motive”.
There are a lot of people from the low income group who are unable to travel to
Hospitals due to lack of support from family etc. to seek treatment. Sai Care is
determined to address such situations and go the extra mile in giving “care” to the
patients in need of help.
2. Objective
To provide free medical screening to the hardcore poor (who normally do not
undertake routine medical screening) and help to provide basic medical needs. At
the same time some with health problems may also be identified and
recommendation for follow up be given, such as surgery, consulting specialists, etc.
3. Implementation
The Medical Screening Camp will make 2 approaches in implementing this project:
1) AWARENESS - Through medical screening such as checks for Blood Pressure, Blood
Sugar, Pap Smear etc. and health education, society can become “AWARE” of
Medical and Health Problems.
2) AFTER CARE – Providing assistance in seeking right treatment and related services
to patients by following up after screening.
1. The Centre will identify areas for holding of Medical Screening Camp
(MSC) and work with the local community leaders from different races.
2. The MSC need not be confined to rural areas. They can be organized in
shopping complexes, houses of worship, industrial & manufacturing plants,
societies & associations etc. in line with our objectives.
3. The MSC will operate in similar manner as Medical Camps, except that
there will be no Medical Specialists. However where possible, MSC may be
combined with Specialist Medical Camps .
4. Centres must make provision to enter all data from the Registration Form
and store in a database so as to facilitate follow up services. All information
obtained must be treated as strictly confidential. Only authorized persons
will be allowed to access the information.
