SAI-CARE An Offering for Humanity and Nation Building Feedback From The Pledgers The Pledgers had expressed the following:- ‘I want something positive to come of my death’ Headmaster of a School. ‘I want to do whatever I can to help someone after I die’ - Pengulu of a Kampung (village headman) ‘Many families who have lost loved ones have been comforted by the knowledge that through their loss they made the gift - of life to others.’ - Clerk ‘ We have enough organs in our bodies to save or improve the lives of 10 to 15 people after we are dead’-Hospital staff ‘ The ready willingness to donate an organ is a clear sign of that sacrificial selfgiving for others’ - hospital nurse ‘ I always carry my donor card with me ‘ - Hospital Clerk ‘ If I needed a transplant I would be willing to receive, therefore I should be willing to donate’ - Medical Doctor.
SAI-CARE An Offering for Humanity and Nation Building Mr Maniam’s Family 10 members of the family of Mr. Maniam pledged all their organs and tissues at the Buddhist Vihara on 28.5.10 at the Wesak Day. They were committed and convinced that: “Give my sight to the man who has never sees a sunrise, a baby’s face or love in the eyes of a woman. Give my heart to a person whose own heart has caused nothing but endless days of pain. Give my kidneys to one who depends on a machine to exist from week to week. Take my bones, every muscle, every fiber and nerve in my body and find a way to make a crippled children walk. Explore every corner of my brain. Take my cells, if necessary, and let them grow so that, some day, a speechless boy will shout at the crack of a bat and a deaf girl will hear the sound of rain against her window” They also requested the State Organ Pledge Coordinator to ensure that every Organ and Tissue are harvested from them and be given as a GIFT OF LIFE to needy persons. Member of Parliament A lady Muslim Member of Parliament from Desa Mentari requested why I was doing this Project. I replied that being a Hindu on death my body would be cremated and that my pair of eyes would be burnt to ashes and instead it should be donated to two blind people who would see for the rest of their lives and that my eyes would be alive and useful. She immediately pledged her pairs of eyes.
