9.0 PROGRAMMES AND PROJECTS<br />
9.1 Overview<br />
The Ministry <strong>of</strong> <strong>Agriculture</strong>, Livestock and Fisheries supports agricultural and economic development through<br />
implementation <strong>of</strong> various initiatives. The initiatives are designed in form <strong>of</strong> projects and programmes that are<br />
financed and implemented by GoK or in collaboration with Development Partners. Some fall under the mandate <strong>of</strong><br />
one State Department while others cut across the State Departments and the agriculture sector. The projects and<br />
programmes objectives spin around achievement <strong>of</strong> food security, increasing agricultural productivity, employment<br />
creation, income generation and, poverty reduction.<br />
There are many Projects and Programmes in the Ministry and this section capture major ones. Administration <strong>of</strong><br />
these initiatives is at a national level and Development Partners channel financial support via the National Treasury.<br />
9.2 State Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>Agriculture</strong> Programmes and Projects<br />
State Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>Agriculture</strong>, projects and programmes are coordinated through Agricultural Projects Coordination<br />
Unit (APCU). The major Programmes and Projects are summarized below indicating their scope, status and cost:<br />
