ProgrammE DEsCriPti<strong>on</strong><br />

This scheme was launched in 2010-11 to provide quality<br />

renal care to patients through public private partnership.<br />

The scheme is operati<strong>on</strong>al in two facilities in the State,<br />

Deharadun and Haldwani. The objective of the scheme is<br />

to provide nephro-dialysis services to the BPL populati<strong>on</strong><br />

free-of-cost and the APL populati<strong>on</strong> can avail of the benefits<br />

at subsidised rates (15% below the MRP). The Directorate<br />

of Medical <strong>Health</strong> & Family Welfare has partnered up<br />

with apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd., Chennai and Rahi<br />

Care Social Initiatives Pvt. Ltd., Chandigarh for setting<br />

up of these facilities in the State. The private provider<br />

runs the project <strong>on</strong> Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) mode<br />

and is given a c<strong>on</strong>tract to run the facility for 5 years with<br />

possible extensi<strong>on</strong> based <strong>on</strong> performance. The government<br />

provides necessary assistance (grants, permissi<strong>on</strong>s etc)<br />

to the private partner for smooth functi<strong>on</strong>ing of the<br />

facilities.<br />

C<strong>on</strong>Clusi<strong>on</strong>s/lEss<strong>on</strong>s lEarnt<br />

Since incepti<strong>on</strong> a total of 26903 patients (21351 BPL<br />

patients) have been treated at the Dehradun facility and<br />

38967 patients (28948 BPL patients) have been treated at<br />

the Haldwani facility.<br />
