ProbleM stateMent<br />

Various types of informati<strong>on</strong> related to health was not<br />

accessible to majority of the populati<strong>on</strong> particularly<br />

those living in rural areas. No mechanism to register<br />

and track the grievances related to various schemes and<br />

services. So there was a requirement for an effective health<br />

informati<strong>on</strong> system, which ensures a two-way flow. Such<br />

a system will effectively address the felt needs of people<br />

especially the poor.<br />

PrograMMe DescriPti<strong>on</strong><br />

The centre 104 Sevakendram was started in 2006-07,<br />

however the 104 <strong>Health</strong> informati<strong>on</strong> Helpline started<br />

working from Oct 2011. Currently same center is working<br />

as 104 Sevakendram, for both for A.P & Telangana). The<br />

Project was initiated in PPP mode in the combined State<br />

of Andhra Pradesh as a <strong>Health</strong> informati<strong>on</strong> helpline<br />

so that people living in the remotest villages can obtain<br />

advice and informati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> various health problems the<br />

families are suffering from; with a focus <strong>on</strong> - Receiving<br />

of any grievances from public health instituti<strong>on</strong>s, giving<br />

home based remedies to stabilize the patient’s c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>,<br />

Informati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> Government and private medical facilities<br />

and Counseling services to the needy callers.<br />

This was scaled up for:<br />

• Informati<strong>on</strong> and M<strong>on</strong>itoring of major schemes.<br />

• Informati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> various services.<br />

• Informati<strong>on</strong> to the pensi<strong>on</strong>ers and employees<br />

<strong>on</strong> EHS.<br />

PrograMMe outcoMes<br />

A system of internal quality and m<strong>on</strong>itoring mechanism<br />

is inbuilt in the 104 Sevakendra. From 2006 to 2011total<br />

number of beneficiaries for the both State (Tamil Nadu and<br />

Tillengana is 49, 54,627. From 2011 to 2015 the number of<br />

beneficiaries for A.P is 48, 03,015.<br />

Trainings <strong>on</strong> Medical terminology, disease summaries<br />

and Algorithms. Orientati<strong>on</strong> Trainings of 12 categories<br />

of health pers<strong>on</strong>nel, which includes various schemes<br />

of the State, nati<strong>on</strong>al programmes, Soft Skills including<br />

communicati<strong>on</strong> and counseling.<br />

Total capital cost since 2006-07 is Rs.8.35 crores Operati<strong>on</strong><br />

cost increased from Rs.3.12 crores to Rs.3.45 crores<br />

from 2011-15.<br />
