<strong>BoR</strong> (<strong>11</strong>) <strong>06b</strong><br />

Fastweb has invested, since 2000, more than 5 €billion for the development of a <strong>NGA</strong><br />

network based on FTTH architecture, in the Italian main cities such as Bologna, Genova,<br />

Milano, Torino, Roma, Napoli and Bari.<br />

Current coverage of the above mentioned <strong>NGA</strong> network corresponds to about 2 millions<br />

home passed with about 300.000 customers connected with FTTH.<br />

In September 2010, Fastweb has started offering 100 Mbit connection on its fiber network<br />

for residential customers (previously targeted at business customers).<br />

1.2.2 Announced roll-out plans<br />

� Have competitors announced roll-out plans for <strong>NGA</strong> networks? For which period? When<br />

answering this question consider the aspects addressed mentioned in 1.1.1.<br />

Main alternative operators (Fastweb, Vodafone, Wind and Tiscali) have recently proposed<br />

a plan for a joint development of a <strong>NGA</strong>N.<br />

The main elements of such plan for <strong>NGA</strong>N are:<br />

� Implementation of a single network for all operators via a separate FiberCo;<br />

� Use of an FTTH-P2P architecture with full unbundling offered also to third parties on a<br />

non discriminatory basis;<br />

� Migration of all customers to the <strong>NGA</strong>N with a gradual switch over plan;<br />

� Target of covering 10 millions of inhabitants located in 15 Italian main cities within 5<br />

years, investing 2,5 €billion;<br />

� Extension to 30 million inhabitants located in the 500 biggest municipalities in 5-10<br />

years investing 8,5 €billion<br />

2 Wholesale products to reach an access point<br />

Please note: the following questions relate to <strong>NGA</strong> wholesale access products as defined in<br />

ERG‟s/<strong>BEREC</strong>‟s <strong>NGA</strong> Reports only. Current generation wholesale access products are dealt<br />

with in the questionnaire of the Remedies PT monitoring ERG WLA/WBA CPs.<br />

The following sub-items should be answered for each of the following access products. Under<br />

each answer, provide information for the main operators providing these products, to the<br />

extent that information is available on access products provided by non-SMP providers:<br />

a) Available: on a voluntary/mandated basis (please provide figures (number of the<br />

respective wholesale products) as of June 30 2010)<br />
