During the 1950’s and up thru the 1970’s it was common<br />

practice for mothers giving their babies up for adoption to<br />

be placed under anesthesia during the birth process. Both<br />

mother and baby have a biological need for boding and<br />

absent that experience separation anxiety which can lead<br />

to depression.<br />

According to the adoption records I uncovered, I was a<br />

sick child for most of the year I was in foster care.<br />

In addition, being raised in an abusive environment from<br />

<strong>my</strong> adoptive father’s alcoholism and abrasive personality<br />

only added further challenges to <strong>my</strong> psychology.<br />

Much of this explained the troubles I had as a young man<br />

and still deal with five decades later.<br />
