The Breakthrough
The armed security guard returned to his station and the
orderlies put me in a small in-take room, removed the zipties
and left.
Across the desk was a middle-aged, stereotypical nurse.
White shoes, uniform and hat. Her clothes made the
nylon swooshing sound when she walked around the
room.
She took my vitals and then handed me a medicine cup
containing five little pills of various shapes and colors
without saying a word.
“Excuse me, I’m sorry…,” I said, “I think there’s been a big
mistake.”
