The topic of James came up and my Diana learned while
standing in line at the checkout that James took his own
life in 1983.
He shot himself in the chest… he was only 41 years old.
Overwhelmed by the news of James’ death, Diana
dropped her items and left the store rekindling the
memory of James for the next few days.
After extensive research and petitions I submitted to the
courts in Nevada, I finally received my original birth
records in 2002, a year later my biological mother, Diana
and I were reunited for the first time since we were
separated at birth 37 years before.
The reunion was very emotional and we still stay in touch
to this day. She now lives in Indiana.
My adoptive father, Robert spent his last days in the
Veteran’s hospital in Buffalo, NY alone, paranoid and
suffering from hallucinations claiming that there were
people after him.
He would shout at Dolores making hurtful remarks
during her visits and would even verbally attack the
nursing staff. His abusive behavior continued until his
