In the above sequence, the outstation receives a request from the master station. If the<br />

master station has set a ‘confirm’ bit, the outstation will send a confirm message. It will<br />

at the same time commence processing the request. Once it has assembled the necessary<br />

information it will send its response. The master station will send a confirmation if the<br />

confirm bit is set in the response.<br />

The case of an unsolicited response is shown below. An event or defined process change<br />

is detected, causing the generation of a message by the outstation.<br />
