Seadet-i Ebediyye - Endless Bliss First Fascicle

The Turkish original of the book Se’âdet-i Ebediyye consists of three parts, all of which add up to more than a thousand pages. We have translated the entire book into English and have published six individual fascicles. Se’âdet-i Ebediyye is a book prepared according to the Hanafî Madhhab. There is not a bit of knowledge or word which does not confirm the creed of the Ahl-i Sunnat and Jamâ’at in this book. This is the first fascicle. We invoke Allâhu ta’âlâ to help us deliver it to our dear readers. There are two hundred and forty (240) chapters in Se’âdet-i Ebediyye, and it consists of three parts. Forty-one of the ninety-eight chapters in the first part, thirty-four of the seventy-two chapters in the second part and thirty-three of the seventy chapters in the third part are translations of the letters in the Persian original of Maktûbât (The Letters) by Hadrat Imâm-i Rabbânî ‘rahmat-Allâhi ’alaih’ . A few of them are translations of letters by Hadrat Muhammad Ma’sûm ‘rahmat-Allâhi ’alaih’. The remaining chapters are taken from many valuable books. Maktûbât by Hadrat Imam-î Rabbânî consists of three volumes (I, II, III) and they contain five hundred and thirty six letters. All of them were published in two volumes in Pakistan in 1392 [1972 A.D.], and it was printed by offset in 1397 [1977 A.D.] in Istanbul. Maktûbât by Hadrat Muhammad Ma’sûm, his son, is also of three volumes (IV, V, VI). The volume number and the number of each letter translated is given below. The additions in brackets are explanations made by the translator, (i.e. Hadrat Hüseyn Hilmi Işık 'quddisa sirruh'.). Subjects relating to belief of ahl as-Sunnat are quoted from famous Ahl as-Sunnat scholars' books.

50 – FIRST VOLUME, 72nd LETTER<br />

This letter, written to Khwâja Jihân, states that he who wants<br />

the Hereafter should not be fond of this world. It explains how to<br />

abandon the world:<br />

May Allâhu ta’âlâ give you salvation and health! It is<br />

impossible to obtain the religion together with the world. He who<br />

wants to earn the next world should give up this world. At such a<br />

time as this, it is not easy to give up this world altogether. At least,<br />

it is necessary to give it up nominally, that is, to think of oneself as<br />

having given it up. This means to observe Islam in all one’s<br />

activities. It is necessary to observe Islam in doing everything. It is<br />

necessary to observe Islam while eating, while drinking, while<br />

dressing and while setting up a home. It is necessary not to go<br />

beyond the commandments of Islam. It is fard to pay the zakât of<br />

gold and silver, of commercial goods and of the quadruped stock<br />

animals that graze on the grass and crops in the field. It is certainly<br />

necessary to pay their zakât.<br />

A person who has been ornamented with obeying Islam has<br />

escaped the harm of this world and has earned the next world. A<br />

person who cannot avoid the world even nominally may be said to<br />

be a munâfiq. His saying that he has îmân will not rescue him in<br />

the next world. It will only protect his property and his life in this<br />

world. Translation of a Persian couplet:<br />

Well, I have told you the essence of the matter;<br />

Get annoyed or take my counsel; doesn’t matter.<br />

Who is that manly, fortunate person who will lend an ear to this<br />

right word, despite the striking appearance of this world, its<br />

servants, maids, delicious foods, various sherbets, ornamented and<br />

attractive attirements, and many pleasures?<br />

Translation of a Persian couplet:<br />

The weight of the pearls has deafened his ears,<br />

What can I do, none of my cries and laments he hears.<br />

[The word ‘Dunyâ’ (the world) is an Arabic word which is the<br />

feminine form of the word ’ednâ.’ That is, it is a superlative noun.<br />

Its infinitive is ‘dunuw’ or ‘danâet.’ If it comes from the first one it<br />
