Go ‘Green’ with Gyvlon Excelio
Consideration of health and safety during
all phases of a project is vitally important.
Reducing or eliminating the risk of harm to
those who have to build, use and maintain
structures is influenced by the method
of construction and choice of materials.
To control and regulate these issues the
Construction Design and Management
Regulations (CDM) were introduced in
1994 and revised in 2007. A further
revision came into force in April 2015.
One of the key changes introduced by
CDM 2015 replaces of the role of CDM Coordinator
(CDMC) with that of a Principal
Designer (PD). The Principal Designer
has responsibility for the co-ordination
of health and safety during the preconstruction
phase.
The Principle Designers Responsibility
Includes:
• Preparing the health and safety
file and then reviewing, updating
and revising it as the project
progresses, managing and
monitoring health and safety
in the pre-construction phase,
including; identifying, eliminating
or controlling foreseeable risks.
One important element of risk in
the construction process that can be
eliminated is the use of bags on site,
particularly when levelling concrete slabs.
Currently, most high performance, thin
levelling compounds are delivered to site
in bags.
CDM Friendly Solution
Excelio is a new and innovative product
developed by Anhydritec, which
eliminates and controls health and safety
concerns on site.
• Innovation - Excelio is the first
UK pumpable flowing substrate
leveller, which can achieve SR1
surface regularity. It is mixed off
site, in an approved ready mix
plant and delivered in a standard
truck mixer.
• Cost – This ready mix solution
offers huge material cost savings,
as a sub base leveller that can be
applied as thinly as 12mm.
• Time – Pumping from a single
ready mix truck, 500m 2 can be
delivered in less than 1 hour,
compared with several days for
bagged products.
• Quality – By achieving SR1 surface
regularity time and money can
be saved by not having to use
additional levelling compounds.
• Handling – There is no manual
handling required: 1 truck
mixer eliminates the storage,
movement and handling of 400
bags (or 10pallets) of 25kg bags
on site.
• Dust Emissions – No dust is
generated breaking bags. Properly
installed Excelio achieves SR1
surface regularity. This can also
eliminate the need for grinding -
which may be required with other
pump applied products.
• Waste – No waste is generated
during Excelio installation.

In a nutshell, Excelio significantly
contributes toward achieving efficiencies
on site. Importantly, Excelio allows the
Principal Designer to be confident that
as much risk is eliminated and controlled
at design stage - resulting in a cleaner,
safer, working environment.
