What is the programme about?<br />
This programme provides a foundation entry for graduates seeking a career in Business Information Systems.<br />
Students will be able to collect, organise and analyse data produced by business transactions to enable<br />
business managers make better decisions using the appropriate computer software and business solutions.<br />
This skillset provides the perfect blend of technological and business skills.<br />
The Business Information Systems degree gives students a very strong platform in business analysis. The<br />
embedded group projects enable students to demonstrate their understanding of the concepts and business/IT<br />
skills that are required in a work environment. This group dynamic will be invaluable to them in their chosen<br />
career path.<br />
Who is the programme suited to?<br />
The programme will be suited to students with good mathematical and analytical skills with an interest in<br />
using computers to solve everyday business problems.<br />

Year 1: Business Databases, Mathematics and Statistical Methods, Interpersonal Skills & Computer<br />
Applications, Programming Fundamentals, Web Technology, Business Environment and Operations.<br />
Year 2: Introduction to Marketing, Database Systems & Project Management, Programming, Web<br />
Development, Systems Analytics and Modelling, Finance.<br />
Year 3: Business Project, Data Analytics, Advanced Programming, Enterprise Resource Planning, Customer<br />
Care & CRM, Work Placement.<br />
Year 4: Enterprise Software, Data Analytics, Final Year Project, Software Architecture, Agile Software<br />
Development, Software Testing, plus one business elective per semester.<br />
What can I do after the programme?<br />
An Information Systems career can provide opportunities for socio economic mobility as the degree will be<br />
recognised globally. This will be reinforced through department links with professional bodies.<br />
Graduates will be able to establish a career in Business Information Systems Development. This is particularly<br />
appealing given the job vacancies which exist in the ICT area currently. Job opportunities for graduates<br />
