What is the programme about?<br />
The Internet Systems Development programme prepares students for a broad range of careers in the fast<br />
moving computing industry.<br />
Students will develop an understanding of current and emerging technologies and best business/industrial<br />
standards to equip them to meet the demands of an increasingly technological world. The aim of this<br />
programme is to provide students with the professional, technical and project related capabilities applicable to<br />
the development of secure client-side and server-side Internet-based systems.<br />
The work placement in Year 3 gives students the opportunity for further personal development in real world<br />
job situations.<br />
Who is the programme suited to?<br />
This programme is suited to those interested in how Internet based systems work, in designing and building<br />
websites, and want to build their knowledge and technical capacity in this continually changing technology<br />
area.<br />
The programme will be suited to students seeking to establish a career in the technology sectors. This is<br />
particularly appealing given the job vacancies which exist in the ICT area currently.<br />
Minimum Entry Requirements:<br />
Leaving Certificate: A minimum of 5<br />
O6/H7 grades in Leaving Certificate<br />
subjects, including Mathematics and<br />
English or Irish.<br />

The programme is semesterised and modules over the three years cover the areas of: Programming,<br />
Databases & Data Analytics, Web Technology, Web Business, Responsive Web Design Computer Systems,<br />
Software Engineering & Design, UX/UI design processes, Security, Server & Cloud Deployment, Individual<br />
& Team Projects, Professional Development.<br />
Work Placement<br />
Students spend 6 months in Year 3 on a work related placement.<br />

Technology is ingrained in our work and personal lives with the Internet at the heart of everything we do.<br />
Careers in this field are full of young, motivated people with exciting, fresh, new ideas. The Internet is still an<br />
ever changing technology area and it has expanded possibilities to live, work and build a career anywhere in<br />
