Limerick City
On the banks of the River Shannon, Limerick is Ireland’s third
largest city and home to 20,000 third level students. With
almost half of the city’s population under thirty, Limerick has a
vibrant and youthful air. In recent times, a major
redevelopment programme has transformed the city but it has
still managed to maintain its warm, friendly atmosphere
ensuring students enjoy the benefits of a city location, while
still being able to find their way around with ease.
Moylish Park Campus, located adjacent to Munster
Rugby’s Thomond Park and a five minute walk from
Limerick GAA’s Gaelic Grounds, is the main LIT
campus. Its facilities include lecture theatres and
science labs, the LIT Student Centre, with its radio
station and games room, excellent sports facilities and
our refurbished student canteen hub. Our innovative
Campus 2030 Development Plan is a major investment
project that will see an additional 50,000sq. metres of
new facilities as well as extensive refurbishment of
existing facilities. It is a hugely exciting plan and will
create a significant stimulus for the Limerick and midwest
region’s economy.
The Clare Street and Georges Quay Campuses house
LIT’s internationally renowned Limerick School of Art &
Design (LSAD), a vibrant, living “canvas” for the
creation, display and celebration of the artistic talents of
our students. It has an award winning reputation,
including the Fashion Department listed in the top 50
worldwide, and cutting edge creative technologies for
student learning. The School’s unique creative
environment is being further enhanced following the
opening of the International Fashion Incubator Limerick
(IFIL), a creative hub that will house 100 students in a
single fashion hub in Limerick City Centre.
